About This Spot

Stepping into Irori in the heart of Fujiyoshida feels like being welcomed into a quiet, intimate corner of Japan’s rich culinary tapestry. This izakaya carries a gentle rhythm—unhurried and warm—where guests find themselves immersed in a cozy, unpretentious space that invites lingering conversations and shared moments. The wooden interiors, soft lighting, and subtle nods to traditional Japanese design create a sense of calm comfort, a perfect backdrop for both casual gatherings and quiet evenings.

The atmosphere at Irori is one of thoughtful hospitality, where the staff’s genuine care quietly shapes the experience. Here, the focus is less on spectacle and more on the simple joy found in carefully prepared food and friendly exchanges—a sentiment felt deeply whether you're a local or a traveler discovering the area around Mount Fuji.

The culinary journey at Irori unfolds through dishes that honor Japanese flavors with unexpected touches and seasonal inspirations. Each bite reveals a balance of familiar warmth and gentle surprise—whether it’s a tender piece of grilled chicken dusted with black sesame, a bowl of richly flavored motsunabe, or the subtle earthiness that comes through in truffle-marinated shiitake. Drinks, from delicate sake selections to refreshing fruit sours, complement the food in a way that encourages slow savoring and conviviality.

There’s a quiet joy in watching the space pulse with the gentle hum of contented diners, where hospitality feels like a heartfelt invitation to pause, taste, and connect. At Irori, the moments between bites are as meaningful as the flavors on the plate, making it a place where authenticity and warmth naturally blend.

Very high quality food. We ordered the fried tofu, Tonkatsu and Tempura set. They are all very delicious. Good service and atmosphere.

Small place, very authentic Japanese place. Nice environment. We stumbled upon it from a flyer in the Main Street. Lovely delicious food, so tasty.

Loved this izakaya! Great atmosphere & friendly staff. They have a recommendations list, and the dishes we had from there were amazing, especially together with their homemade lemon sour!

Nice little Izakaya restaurant. Nice vibe with delicious food. Everything we ate was oishi. Must trys - Japanese omelette with cod roe, fried chicken wings, and the sake cocktails.

Fantastic and friendly izakaya. The food is done by request, so it can be a little tricky if you don't speak Japanese, but the staff are incredibly helpful and open to ideas of the food you'd like to eat. I'm vegetarian and the Irori staff were able to create food catered towards me as well as dishes for my friends who eat meat.
